ABOUT US!
I'm Lana, a boy & dog mum, & a huge lover of dogs (obvs!) I previously worked in the design industry for 15 years, but over time I realised that everything always came back to dogs for me... so I decided to pack it all in, & do what I love - spend time with more dogs.
Once our girl Sumo here came into our lives 7 years ago, she immediately began teaching us all about dogs - and we thought we knew about them back then, both myself & my husband growing up with dogs. Little did we know! Sumo is a sound & dog reactive girl, so our training became quite a bit more complex and important to get right than we had originally expected. I loved reading and learning about her, reactive dogs, & dogs in general. How could I help her, what could I do? Dog behaviour and so on... I found it all fascinating, and an addictive pastime.
Sumo is our queen, our boss dog, our loudest & most loyal best friend who just loves to announce herself to all that she meets. In true Dachshund style, of course!
We are based in the beautiful green & leafy Chingford, London, a very short walking distance to the incredible Epping Forest. We love it, and never get bored of the paths and ever changing scenery.
We've been walking the forest for several years together now, & are looking forward to welcoming your best friends to come along and join us on the adventure soon

🐶 CARING FOR & WALKING REACTIVE DOGS 🐶
Our girl Sumo is a very fearful & anxious dog who suffers from fear based reactivity due to an attack as a puppy (not aggressive, just hugely misunderstood with that loud Dachshund bark!), where she very nearly lost sight in one eye & has been quite traumatised ever since. Over the years we've been together we have worked with many trainers & behaviourists to try & help her, alongside my own research. We want to ensure she gets the very best out of life, & to find ways I can help her navigate her way through this big, scary world.
Especially on walks which can be a challenge at times for a reactive dog, as can it be for us - their parents.
Due of this incident, I have a lot of experience in training & working with her fear based reactions & reactivity when out and about, and what it means to take reactive dogs out for their daily walk. It isn't always as straight forward as a simple walk through town with dogs that suffer in this way, & I fully understand that. To give her the very best in life I can - I often drive her to quiet parts of the forest that I have scouted out beforehand & know will work for her. I do this so she can live her dreams of roaming free comfortably, while we keep busy playing fun nose-work games, we explore, & stay focused on each other during our walks.
I believe it is important to still include our reactive dogs in society, but at a pace they can handle. I don't shelter her from triggers, but instead move slowly exposing her to them at a pace she can handle. And that is exactly what I would do with your reactive dogs too - ensuring everyone enjoys their walks together the best I can.
Please feel free to get in touch for more info, should you have any questions about your dog, or how I use desensitisation during reactive dog walks.
